    hi,i dont even know if im in the right place!bare with me im new at this! :confused: I have a Dell optiplex-gx 280 desktop and i want to remove the internal hdd and put it into my Toshiba Laptop both are sata,is it possible?also if it is,is there a way i dont have to reinstall windows and all the other stuff :eek: ...heeelp

    Hi - welcome.

    Desktops typically use 3.5" size hard drives ... it will not fit in a laptop. Laptops use 2.5" size. The SATA connection is identical, however.

    The Windows license on your desktop is likely OEM, that means it cannot be transferred to another computer. You will have to buy a new copy of Windows and freshly install it onto the notebook.

    I am guessing there is something wrong with your Toshiba laptop?
