Hello, I have a 2008 macbook with sata 2 connection.

Is there any SSD that runs on SATA 2 and has good reliability, durability and sandforce chip?

Not looking for extreme data rate, but a good data rate would be very nice

in 160-250gb size, but not over $210

    thanks :)

Don't be looking Sandforce, even for SATA 2. I'd normally recommend the Intel 320 for SATA 2, but Intel seems to be having issues tracking down a bug with it, granted it is a rather rare bug. The Samsung 470 would be my other recommendation, a very solid SATA 2 drive. $200 for a 160GB+ is tough though. $200 usually gets you around a 120-128GB, often you can come in under this price for that capacity. Sandforce is too unreliable to recommend, yes they tend to be cheaper, but there is a reason. They like to die after 2-3 months...

The Intel and Samsung drives are very close in data rate anyway, and without stopwatching things, you won't really notice a difference aside from the Sandforce drives (like OCZ) tending to no longer work a few months in. Yes, I have a Sandforce drive in my desktop, but the thing gave me fits trying to get it working, and it has noticeably slowed as well. I count myself lucky that it is even still working.

After try it out, and be amazed how much was easy to install it and set it up, I definitely recommend a crucial M4.

What the others people mention in this forum was true, cheap, fast, reliable.

Considering only Intel makes them [that I know of], a lot. Probably twice your budget.

Close to $300. Intel 320 160GB is one of the few 160GB out there however (and one of the cheapest), most SSD sizes go 60/64, 120/128, 240/256, 512 GB.

is intel the best brand for reliablity and durability?

seems there's a lot of negative responses for OCZ and kingston ssd
