so i decided to play some 1080p clips on my new 24" monitor today and noticed that there is about a half in thick horizontal area across the screen that flickers, especially when the video gets intense. i tried several clips and it is consistent. i tried playing with some of the nvidia settings, but no luck. any ideas about the cause? i have a 9600m GT, and it never had more than a 70% load (mostly 40 or 50 tops) during video play. should i take the monitor back?

upon further inspection, it seems that that entire horizontal area refreshes slower than the rest of the monitor and creates a harsh flicker effect when the images move quickly. i also discovered that simply dragging a window back and forth across that area creates the same effect. i assume it must be a hardware issue.

Try playing non HD files and see if the line is still there, if its not then your Monitor is having problems rendering the high def.

I would take it back. Take the laptop as well so you can prove in the store that it is having problems, that saves you a lot of hassle. Demand a new one or your money back.

i'm gonna take it back. got it from costco. they dont even ask you why you're returning it, they just take it. i just hope they have more of these monitors left cuz they were a sweet deal. none of the reviews i've seen on these mention this problem.

Yeah man I think your just better off taking it back, it happens. Sometimes you see perfect reviews and you seem to have picked up the defected one :( , good luck with the return. Let us know what happens with the new one.

OK now it appears that the problem only occurs over HDMI connection. thru the VGA it's gone! hmmmmmm

If you can, try another HDMI cable. If that's the problem, they only need to replace the cable, not the whole screen.

ok soo... while i updated drivers, i also realized that i had my VGA plug connect at the same time as my HDMI, so i disconnected the VGA and also updated drivers.. upon reboot, i noticed problem was gone. i then thought, ok now i will plug the VGA back in to see if that was the culprit.. but it still worked ok, so i figured this was not the problem.. then all of a sudden, the problem was back.. so i disconnected the VGA cable again and the problem is gone. i even rebooted and still gone.... technology, sigh.. last night it was my router, tonight my monitor.. what a love/hate relationship lol
