When can we expect to start seeing these? And please let me know if there is one available and I just don't know about it!

Why do you need one? There are USB solutions as well as mini-pci cards...

Seems it would be sturdier and less likely to come out or be knocked out. I just want bluetooth for a mouse....

I have a two year old and he likes to take things apart. A usb bluetooth adapter is a prime target in his eyes.

If you're worried about something being sturdier, most modern laptops have internal provisions for bluetooth adapters. What is the make/model and maybe someone on the forum can let you know if it's already set and you just need to buy the adatper.

 Wow I didn't know...figured internal bluetooth was alot like video cards (you're stuck with what you've got)

I haven't bought it yet but I was going to get an hp dv6000z off of ebay. I could get one directly from hp with bluetooth builtin, but the ones i'm looking at on ebay are ~ $950 and come with 2gb of ram. Just no bt. Can you do that with the dv6000z?

I just checked out the service manual for the dv6000z. It seems to be possible to install in internal bluetooth adapter (the motherboard has a connector to plug it in). However, it seems to be a lot of trouble to do because you have to remove the hard drive, optical drive, switch cover, keyboard, speaker assembly, display assembly, and top cover. Not something you'd want to perform if you aren't too familiar with the components. My laptop just has the bluetooth adapter behind a little latch in the battery compartment. Sorry for the bad new; but, sounds like a usb dongle is your only current feasible choice. Heres a link for the service manual if you're interested: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00751094.pdf

Hey thanks! I think I'll forget about bluetooth and just use a usb RF reciever + wireless mouse (the only thing I wanted bluetooth for). I've taken notebooks apart before and it's NOT a fun thing to do. Replacing memory is one thing, but when you start cracking that case open and swapping out parts ..... scary stuff with a shiny new notebook!
