So, I bought this cool little HP laptop from Craigslist for $50. Problem is, it has a really hard time starting up. The lights show up on the keyboard, but the computer tends to reboot shortly after the fans begin. A few times, the HP logo shows up, and a few times, I even got it to go into my Linux disk and even back into Windows XP. Shortly after an update, though, it shut off and is being a little again. There was also a line across the screen when the screen did turn on.
Anyway, is there any way to fix this, or do I need to buy a whole new motherboard? Also, aside from eBay (or even if it is), what would be the best place to find a replacement at the most affordable cost? The p/n is RD167AV. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I heard about that. That was one of the problems brought up. I may very well try it. Thanks!

I got it to turn on, but haven't done that act yet, so I was wondering if there is a really good diagnostic software that can check my entire computer and tell me where the problem is located specifically?

Ugh, there's this one part on the motherboard that just won't come off, and I accidentally broke a piece of it off. It's the Hole4 piece next to the fan. What do I do?
