I have a lappy with 512mb DDR2 533mhz ram. There is another slot which I want to fill with another 512 or 1gig. My question is that will the memory run in dual channel mode if I put in a 1gig paired with the existing 512? Or should I put in 512mb and be happy with it? Thanks! I have a Dual core and Pent-m machine.

More RAM is better than the advantage provided by dual channel. The difference between running 1GB and 1.5GB might not be always noticable(depends on your use), but having he 1GB stick will also allow you to just add another 1GB stick in the future and max out the memory to 2GB and dual cahnnel as well.
