Hey guys, sorry for my newbie question but I've bought 2x 2GB RAM DDR2 667MHz for my VAIO VGN FZ-140E( originally came with 2x 1GB RAM DDR2 667MHz, with a T7100 Core 2 Duo CPU, which has a bus speed of 800MHz.

    Would I get a better perfomance if I bought 2x 2GB RAM DDR2 800 MHz instead?

Also, the hard disk is a SATA 200GB 4200rpm, would it be a nice upgrade going to a SATA 500GB 7200rpm, performance wise?

    Thanks in advance.

I did a quick search but couldn't find much... I'll appreciate if anyone can point me the right direction.

It looks like you have a 965 chipset. Assuming such is actually the case, it won't matter if you get 800MHz or 667MHz memory, as the chipset won't let it run faster than 667MHz.

Nonetheless, even if your chipset did allow 800MHz memory speed, you wouldn't notice any difference between 800MHz and 667MHz memory. Period.

On the other hand, you probably will notice a small performance improvement going from your current HDD to a modern 500GB notebook HDD.

    Thanks a lot! It's indeed a 965, so it won't make a difference.

I'll invest my money on getting a new HDD then.
