can my dell xps m1530 take ddr3 ram like http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...B (2x2GB) PC3-10666 DDR3 SODIMM (OCZ3M13334GK)
or shall i go for 4gb of ddr2 800mhz?
thanks any help appreciated!

Nope. DDR3 sockets are totally different from DDR2 sockets. (204-pin vs 200-pin)
Go for the 4GB DDR2-800 if upgrading, but it will downclock to DDR2-667. -
thanks how come it down clocks?

Basically a chipset limitation (GM/PM965). More info on this is given in the 965 Mobile Datasheet.
Even though the max supported FSB is 800MHz, the max supported RAM frequency is 667MHz. -
ok thanks mate.
