My MXM dGPU configuration in the BIOS is set to x16 Gen1 for some reason. Laptop in sig. I should change this to Gen 3 for max speed right? 20181201_115932_edited.jpg

That's very strange it's set to Gen1 by default. What does GPU-Z say when you run the render test?

All computers with this style of AMI Bios will show x16 Gen1 in the bios. This is by design.
Changing it manually to Gen 3 does nothing here.
It will run at full link speed in windows (PCIE x16 3.0), although some Clevo systems run at x8 3.0 (don't know why).

Be careful messing with stuff like that in the Bios. You don't want to get a black screen and be forced to pull the CMOS battery out.

The SLI Clevo systems run at x8 even if you physically remove one of the cards, it's a weird design quirk.
