This may sound like a stupid question, but would it be possible to somehow convert/remove the Glossy screen coating on the LCD monitor to turn it into a Matte screen?

Can this be achieved with altering the hardware as opposed to using a screen filter?

    Thanks

I believe they sell anti-reflective screens that can be overlaid on the LCD, but I haven't seen them around for a while.

I'll probably have to find some 'anti-reflective filter' or something.

Including the slaughter of thousands of innocents in Africa, and the starvation also? I will look harder but I don't think it can be done.

    ^^those were some annoying links..

thanks anyway, but I from India..so $$ is not an option.
I don't want to go matte btw, I just want to get rid of the staring-at-the-lightbulb effect of a glossy screen

The matte ones are clear winner.
Actually, the only place where glossy wins is when its tuned off! Oh! But you did'nt buy that device to keep it powered down,is it?

There's no wonder why I've seen my sister ask my lappy when she forgets to put in her mirror and needs a quick touch-up ~! ah ah h ah ah !

Err, With that glossy srceen, you'll see more of your reflection rather than the person you're video-chating with!

At a Train station,I actually used it to Keep track of my Younger bro roaming behind while using my lappy !ha ! Thats the only time i remember that Glossy screens seems to be a bless,

    Esle they are crap!

Maybe we can put some filter on them, or even sand blast them to make matte!

Interesting links in your post BHVM.

I wish laptop makers would come to their collective senses and lose the glossy screens for good.

I actually prefer the gloss over matte. Sure, the colors aren't as "true", but the brightness, sharpness, and contrast is much better, in my opinion. Now, for outside... practically useless.
