i have a compaq c702 with a celeron m530 processor at 1.73ghz and an intel 965 express chipset. from what ive learnt is that the intel 965 does support core2duo cpu's.
what i want to know is that if its possible to add a desktop cpu like the e2160 or e4500 to my laptop. if it is possible, then how much more power will it take up compared to the celeron. ive also heard that the celeron does not use the power saving technologies the mobile c2d's have. how much more heat would a dualcore e2160 produce in a laptop? also how much battery life would be wasted? is it dangerous for the health of the laptop?

i dont think thats possible since the slots are complete different. i think the laptops havent yet taken the LGA architecture as their desktop counterparts. also the cooling system is of much difference. the probability that this may work is very low........ however its worth a try. do post ur results

Not going to work for oh so many reasons including mentioned above. I assume you have a GL960? Why not get a C2D mobile, socket P CPU?

the reason i wanted to see if the desktop cpu would work in my notebook was cuz the mobile cpu's are a lot more expensive over here ( india) and mobile cpu's are little harder to find. the e2160/e4500 is dirt cheap over here, but i guess its impossible. oh well.... guess i have to get a mobile c2d
    thanks for the help :)
