Short answer "No". You will have to get a screen made for touch screen and even then it the cost would out weight just buying a screen that is already touchscreen. But since you don't indicate what your using the touch screen for and what environment that makes justify buying one cost prohibited.

StormJumper raises a fair point about the cost. From a technical standpoint, the answer is also (most likely) "no", as the system board probably doesn't have the proper connection for a touch screen if it is already not supplied with one.

As has been said no. If money and trouble is no issue maybe but real answer is and will always be no if you ask me. Sell the current and buy the touch screen if you want. That is the best way to go.

It seems everyone has forgotten about the $50 kits to make a netbook a touchscreen...

    They might still make them....

I think Commander_Wolf tried putting a X61t screen onto a non tablet X61, needlesstosay the touchscreen did not work, we hypothesize the BIOS didn't support it.

Blame the BIOS. What about that $50 netbook kit? Sounds good aye?

Just get a Tablet or Ipad if they want such a device. What they want to for the conversion isn't possible if the BIOS or firmware doesn't support it and won't work regardless what they think should work. Unless the laptop comes in touch screen option then you can upgrade but that won't come cheap by any standards.

I don't know if its available yet, but I saw something neat on Cnet. It's a little device that allows you to use hand gesture in the air, very similar to the computer in Minority Report. Might be something you'd be interested in.
