    Hello everyone,
I am Kracken, just joined today and have a question. I have a new HP dv8130us and would like to improve sound. I will be listening mostly with head phones, Shure E2c's, and occasionally to a system. What card do you suggest to get to optimum sound from by Hp. Thanks for any ideas:hp:

PCMCIA options are very limited. Echo Indigo and Audigy2 ZS. I'd go with the Audigy personally, cause I like Creative cards in general. I have the desktop version of the Audigy2 ZS and it's great.

USB options are more various, but I personally prefer my sound device to be internal, not external. I hate USB.

That's something I'd like to know as well. I've been getting contradicting information from various sources.

No, when you install the external soundcard your laptops speakers will not work.

It's sort of between internal and external.

Good question about the speakers. I know someone who has the Creatice PCI card so I will ask him when I can and report back.

The speakers WILL work on your laptop. The audigy2 zs notebook allows you to set it all up in its options.

Check out the thread about this soundcard I posted in the hardware upgrades section.

Hmmm... when I set it up, the speakers on my laptop wouldn't work no matter how much you tweaked...

Really? Then maybe you have an incompatible PCMCIA controller. Can you list which one you have?
