    hi all i was looking to buy this ram and im not sure about the speeds and specs of ram and how it affect compatibility, would this work...

    2GB kit (1GBx2), 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-6400 memory module

    you have 800mhz ram there..

    you need 667mhz pc2-5300 or 5400 ram

    that 6400 will downclock and only give you slightly better timings/performance (not noticeable)

    ^^^^he is correct, I missed. The main point of what I am saying is more RAM is better.

    Yeah, you should get PC2-5300 or 5400.

    Otherwise that's a safe bet!

    Why bother going with PC5300 over 6400?

    The only reason to pick PC5300 instead is if you get the faster timings of module like the Gskill, otherwise buying the PC 6400 means you have it for when you can use it. Most module run 5-5-5-18 in DDR2-800 and 5-5-5-15 in DDR2-667 the same as the standard PC5300 modules, Gskill's DDR2-800 runs in 5-5-5-15, and considering the price is usually the same or even sometimes cheaper, I'd suggest you go for the PC6400 if it's the same price, otherwise go for better timings like the Gskill's PC5300 @ 4-4-4-12, or else save your money and go with whatever's cheaper.
