Will they ever make a laptop case that is truly changable?

It seems so stupid they we cannot change motherboards or most anything on laptops. How we allow this as consumers is amazing. Laptops should have a standard interchangeable case plain and simple. :)

And I think laptops should have desktop speeds, with the same graphics power with 24 day battery life? Is it going to happen? I doubt it.

For the 10000 people in the world who like the idea, 5000 consider buying it, 2500 do, 1500 end up buying the first upgraded motherboard, and 0 end up buying the next upgraded motherboard because the manufacturer stopped making and supporting it. It is just cheaper to sell an old laptop on ebay and buy a new one. I really think that if a manufacturer could make money off of this, they would.

I don't really think this is a good idea.
1.- Laptops have a large number of form factors for a reason, and it's personal preference which one is better than the other.
2.- Laptops are often considered fashion statements, so few consumers would consider reusing a case over and over again. Heck, many people change up their desktop cases as well.
3.- Laptop cases take a beating over time, with intensive use. With the powerful modern hardware we have, chances are, the laptop casing will be dead before the computer is actually obsolete.
4.- Unique casings for laptops allow manufacturers to squeeze more in less space. There's only so many ways to cram one standard motherboard design into a chassis.

Trottel is right, say the make the laptop. How many people would actually buy them? Honestly? The minority, they wouldn't be able to sell enough to cover the overhead of selling an interchangeable laptop aka they won't sell as many laptops in the short term (1-3 years).
It's company suicide. They would not even have to wait until 3 years when they aren't selling laptops to feel the effect. Stockholders would sell stocks as soon as they hear about this madness, stockholders don't want to hear about the company their invested in is going to spend so many millions of dollars into making a laptop that will sell once, and customers will not need to buy a new laptop again. They want to hear about how this laptop will be all the rage/be great but after 2 years becomes obsolete or at least so that trends change and market appeal moves towards other "indoctrinated" designs.
