This usually happens to me once every 2 weeks. I would be doing light tasks like word processing or web surfing and the laptop just shuts itself completely off suddenly. Is it a heat issue?

This laptop has broken down twice most likely due to heat issues with the graphics card. Anyone else have any suggestions besides selling it asap? My warranty expired by the way. Thanks.

What model and what specifications does your system have?

The problem you described could be caused by many things.

It is most likely from overheating, if you have a clevo rebranded desktop replacement, you can press FN+F2 to force the fans to full speed. This way the temps drop and prevent crashes.

yeah, sounds like overheating issues. My m5550 hasn't shut down on me yet though. Install a CPU temp monitoring program like "Coretemp" then let us know what temps you are getting for the CPU. If the GPU overheats, it usually just downclocks. But for the CPU, it just shuts down the computer.

You can also try opening up the computer and blowing some compressed air into the fan and blow dust out of the exhaust. See if that helps.
