Hi, I'm buying a new laptop soon and I'm looking into Sony VAIO's S series.
I'll need the laptop for graphics designing (3D modelling for the most part) and gaming. Now I don't know which processor I should choose in the customizing.
    There's the i7-3612QM and the i7-3520M ( Compare IntelĀ® Products ).

Regardless of the price, which one would be better for me? The 3520M has a higher speed but less cache and cores. So I don't know how this would affect the rendering speed. All replies are well appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

All other hardware equal, get the Quad. Generally you can divide your render time by the number of processing cores. As specific to this machine and the software used, you have to do more research.

I would get the quad core as well. Notice that both have similar TDP values but the 3612 might run a little hotter but nothing that you will notice. It will only be visible in a monitoring app or something like that.

Thanks for the replies. That was very helpful!
I'm going for the quad core. It'll be $100 cheaper and apparently more powerful.
    Thanks again!
