Where can I buy a laptop hard drive to fit the new MacBook Pro, in Manhattan (New York City)? I need 320GB, 7200rpm, and a free-fall sensor would be nice, but not a necessity. I need a store that will have it in stock, because I need to get it in one day. Thanks in advance.

I know when I walked from penn station to my job on 57th street, I would walk up 6th avenue.
On that avenue around 48-53rd street their are two big computer shops. Paramount computer and a store with the word Computers on the front. Both have a decent selection, and you can probably get the harddrive their.
Their is also another place maybe around 43rd street and 6th which I believe is called Computer and Camera, or something like that. It is a pretty large building.
Driving up and down 6th and 7th avenues would find you a lot of computer shops, but the traffic could cost you quite a bit in fuel alone
The only other options would be a best buy or a staples store, but finding it in either of those would be a shot in the dark.

Your best bet is buying online, since you will always find the cheapest prices their.
Good places to look are zipzoomfly, e-wiz, lagoom, tiger direct and newegg.

Tekserve on 23rd Steet west of 6th Avenue is a computer store specializing in Macs.

Will any 2.5" 320GB 7200rpm laptop hard drive fit in the MBP, or do I need a Mac specific HD?

you can use any 9.5 mm 320gb 7200rpm drive in your laptop.
Just make sure that the drive is new when you find one, buying used harddrives is pretty sketchy.
some 5400rpm drives are 12.5mm thick, so you should not get those. They are particularly the Hitachi 5k500 and the Fujitsu 500gb drive. Both of them are too thick and will not fit into your system.
Other than that you can use any SATA 9.5mm thick laptop harddrive.

OK, so any 9.5mm laptop hard drive, doesn't have to be Mac specific.
