    Its diffcult to say. It will only happen when the demand for them increases. At the moment, only a very small number of people will buy 2 GB denstiy modules, since they need alot of RAM for specicialist programs/applications, but the average user doesn't need such a vast amount of RAM. Having said that, games will use more and more RAM, and when games that require more than 2 GB release, the demand will certainly increase.

    Yep and people thinking of upgrading to 4GB (2x 2GB) ram on a 32bit system is not worth it because the OS you will only see ~3GB-3.5GB available. 32bit sytem can address a maximun of 4GB of memory but the problem is things like graphics card, pci bus, chipsets etc all take up some of this memory addressing.

    3GB is a good option because you don't lose much or any physical ram rather wasting half a GB or more. You do lose out on dual channel but the performance with dual channel is not much of an improvement anyway.
