Hi guys can u make a list from best to worst, intel penitum core duo, dual core, core 2 duo, penitum d, intel celeron dual core?

And also whats the difference between intel penitum dual core, and intel core duo?
The intel duo is 32 bit but has a larger cach memory then intel dual core. What's more important cach memory or 32bit or 64 bit in the permormance? Thanks!

The term 'Dual Core' designates CPUs with 2 cores, nothing more, nothing less.

Now, within the so-called 'Dual Cores' you have sub-families such as the Penitum Dual Core and the Core 2 Duo family from Intel.

Think of it like categories & subcategories. All dalmatians are dogs, all dogs are canines and all canines are animals. The reverse however is not true.

Dalmatian is like the model number of the CPU(ex:T6600). Dogs refer to the family of the CPU(ex: Core 2 Duo). Canine refers to the CPU's class(ex: Dual Core) and Animals refers to what it is at the root(ex: Processors).

In the same line of though... all T6600s are Core 2 Duos and all Core 2 Duos are dual core and all dual core CPUs are CPUs. However, using the terms in reverse doesn't work.

Ranging from strongest to weakest we have(in bold is the manufacturer's name and in italic are their family):
    - Intel Core 2 Duo
    - Intel Pentium Dual Core
    - Intel Pentium D
    - AMD Sempron

Mind you, within these families lie singular models, but in general the families are within this rank of power.

And sorry i put a intel sempron that was a mistake, and wanted to put intel celeron. Saw it just now!

Core Duo was the predecessor to Core 2 Duo and is in general still faster than the others if from the same generation, but if say the Pentium Dual Core is more recent than the Core Duo CPU, it'll probably beat it.

You're going to have to be more specific(as in provide an actual set of CPUs to compare) if you want to compare because performance changes from generation to generation.

If you want to buy a laptop, perhaps check the "What Laptop Should I Buy?" subforum.

firstly all of these processors are 64 but usually..

their performance is in this rank... from lowest to highest

    1. Pentium D
    2. Core Duo
    3. Celeron Dual Core
    4. Pentium Dual Core
    5. Core 2 Duo

I recommend that u buy a Core 2 Duo as it has the full cache and is not crippled like the pentium dual core... and could u tell us what laptop ur buying and what ur going to use it for.,... it would really help.

Well...i am thinking between this two:

    MSI CR500X 15.6"HD Glare Intel C900(2.2GHz) nV 8200M 4GB 320GB DVD-RW WLAN CAM 4-in-1 6Cell Black

    or

    Asus K50IJ-SX144L,15.6'' HD,Intel Dual Core T4300 (2.00 GHz),4GB 250GB,Intel GMA 4500M

I know it's dumb question, pentium vs. celeron but this celeron has better graphic card...and i am interested how x4500m graphic card which is on the Asus will handle HD videos 720p? And how will nVidia GeForce 8200M G which is on the MSI handle HD Videos also?

What kind of HD video are we talking about? Are you connecting to an external monitor/HDTV or are you just watching 720p videos on your laptop? Watching so-called "HD video" is more CPU bound than GPU bound and even then, the player you're using has to support GPU acceleration which isn't all of them.

I have an Intel Celeron M 1.6GHz paired with a GMA950 and I can play 720p videos(tried it on VLC and Media Player Classic), just not 100% smoothly so something like a T4300 with a GMA4500 will most likely be able to play those.

No external monitor, just to watch on the laptop, and i was wondering is it going to be smooth watching on both graphic cards or no, so i can make my mind.
If the MSI will be good for HD, and his graphic card i will buy MSI, i am not gamer type, but would like to watch high definition movies. And it's 60 euros less for MSI. I was wondering would it be bigger difference in graphics or in performance, msi has celeron but better graphic, asus has lower graphic card but it's pentium. To say again, i am not gamer, only music, movies, office, web surfing.

The second option with the GMA 4500 will play 720p HD videos absolutely perfectly. Go for it.

i would recommend the second option... u might also be able to play 1080p videos depeding on what codec you use... also try to get a windows 7 as it has a better media player codec...
