Look here for an outline of the benefits of DDR3 ram over DDR2 and DDR ram. As a rough outline, DDR3 runs at higher clocks and lower voltages due to a more complex 90nm manufacturing process.

Edit: DDR3 should not be confused with GDDR3 ram used on graphics cards which is very different.

    Sorry jess_paws, I'm reall confused... :p

My question supposed to be " What're the differences between DDR2 and GDDR3 RAM that used on graphics cards? "

The design is based on DDR2 (since JEDEC took too long to design the DDR3-it's not out yet)
Reduced heat and consumption, and higher speeds.
    GDDR3 is designed by ATI.

GDDR3 RAM runs at higher clock speeds as mentioned. This means that all components within the Graphics Card can benefit from recieving information at a faster rate. Pixel Shader Units and vertex Shader units can recieve the information faster (the components that process information) and therefore work more efficiently, giving a boost to frame rates while gaming.

GDDR3 is based on the DDR3 spec, just before it was finalized. So it's almost identical to DDR3, with very few differences. But it does run at the higher rates as said above, so it's just "better". DDR3 will NOT work with your computer, though. You can't plug it into a DDR2 slot because the specs are different.
