Ok, what should I do with my vaio battery if Im not going to be using it for about 2-3 months. Im going overseas only carrying one of my laptops, leaving the other at home not gonna be used. I cant seem to find notes about this in the manual but I have remember I read it somewhere that says charge it to about 50% and then take it out of the laptop and leave like that. Is that right? Is there any alternatives that I should do, its a TZ battery I dont wanna ruin it just by not using it due to going overseas, whats the best way?

    THanks

i always remember drain to 40%, put in a plastic ziplock bag, and place it in the crisper in the fridge! Who knows if all that is needed, but that is what i remember!

Exactly, just make sure not to let the battery freeze...
Otherwise, just leave it in an area around or less than 20C

Better not leave it there for 3 months without using it. Make a full cycle at least once every two months.

PS. moved to Hardware and Components forum.

Li-ion batteries should be stored at 40% SoC at a temp of ~15*C, as it reduces age-related capacity loss. Its basically electrochemistry, etc to explain this stuff, but I would just follow the instructions given in the Notebook Battery Guide.

And also have a look at Battery University.

    EDIT: How to store batteries

or you can hire somebody to take care of your battery untill you return, lol

but seriously, don't bother. Go oversees, have fun or whatever, and then come back and keep using your laptop.
