Preferably PC tech, but not necessarily. And *realistic* !!! Don't say something like a $10 PC weighing 1lbs with 100 hours battery with a 3DMark11 of over 9000!

    For me, I'm anxiously anticipating:

    - 8GB DDR3 RAM modules < $50
    - Ivy Bridge / Trinity GPU performance
    - BETTER DISPLAYS like with OLED or AMOLED tech (affordably priced)
    - SSD's < $0.50 per GB

I would like a search engine feature (ABG) where you could point to a picture and do your search. (ABG = Anything but Google)
For instance I have an old air compressor but can not find info on it via model number, Desc. etc.

    So is the $10 PC:
Raspberry Pi | An ARM GNU/Linux box for $25. Take a byte!
Well, it'll cost $25 and won't run 3DMark at all but it'll weigh less than 1lbs and since it's powered via µUSB-B or LR06 cells the battery runtime is totally up to you.

I also anticipate screens with aspect ratios of 4:3 or even 5:4... wait! You wanted it to be realistic? :nah:

I'm not looking forward to one specific piece of technology, more like a specific class of product

I want a Windows 8 'tablet.' Not a 'consumer' tablet like every popular tablet nowadays, but a real workstation tablet.

Some of the features would be:
-11" to 12" FHD IPS screen(the bezel should be CONSIDERABLY smaller than the ipad bezel)
-x86-64 CPU with Core 2 Duo level performance
-2 lbs(the base weight of the tablet without any of the attachments below)
-hardware switch to change between power modes with DRASTICALLY different performance profiles with meaningful battery life differences
-optional battery slice that would attach directly behind the screen(like putting two tablets together kinda)
-optional projector attachment that is able to project onto either the wall or a table in conference room level brightness with no image skewing
-optional keyboard accessory that allows you to tilt the 'tablet' back like you tilt your laptop screen
-ability to 'tap' your smartphone against the tablet so that you get to use your phone's keyboard as the tablet input
    -induction charging pad

I think this would pretty much allow people to entirely replace their laptops with the exception of people who carry terabytes of data. They would use most of the optional attachments during their work day and then when they go home, they take everything off, flip the switch to low-power mode, and use their tablet on the couch. While I imagine laptops would still exist in this world, these workstation tablets would offer enough functionality while greatly boosting flexibility.

    1) I am hoping for a new battery technology that will have 24 hour battery life at ultrabook/MBA format.
    2) Super Amoled Ultra non-pentile touchscreen with > 1080P resolution :)
    3) ~500GB SSD around $300
    4) 10w ulv with decent graphics and performance of 2 ghz SB cpu.

Interesting! Curious to see the performance and specs of that machine. Sounds like it's a box with no monitor. I'd be more interested in a laptop type device for kids. I'd buy a few even if they were $50 instead of $25. ;)

The latest news on their site just shows the ridiculousness of domestic taxation. Same thing in USA.

Have been waiting for this device for many months now. A cheap machine for poor people, a tiny multimedia device you can have by the TV to surf and to watch whatever you like or to game, a programming device, etc etc.

Dayum! I would really love to see this in a laptop type form for my kids. If they could get it with the LCD, keyboard, and touchpad for < $100 it would be spectacular. I may actually look at buying some broken older laptops with a useable screen and build one up myself. With the thing that small I could easily run everything internally, including power plug for both the motherboard and laptop (for LCD).

Holy Cow! This thing will run off 4xAA batteries!

Problem is no wi-fi built in, use USB.

So you're looking for a panel from LG.

I'm wanting a Samsung panel. :) I want it to be at least 11.6" @ 1366x768 or 1280x800, because I know this actually has a chance of happening. I also want it to be HD-AMOLED+.

Actually, I wouldn't mind if this came in an Apple product or a Samsung product, just something with Ivy Bridge. :)

    Yeah cool huh? :D
As for connectivity the only way to connect to internet with model A is through USB Wifi-plug. Model B have RJ45 slot, so you can use the broadband cable (or USB Wifi-plug)

    This one is also interesting:
    FXI Cotton Candy
    Basicly a computer on a USB/HDMI stick :)
And it have better hardware than the Raspberry pi. Basicly you can plug it in to whatever screen you`d like, use wireless keyboard and mouse through Bluetooth, and whoila you have a computer ready to go. It supports Ubuntu and Android. MicroSD where you can use up to 64GB MicroSD cards. It is suppose to come around February/March I think.

Now this is one I would buy! Dual-core A9 with Mali400-MP? Do I smell Exynos or STEricsson Novathor U8500?

Wow. Just wow. Only question is cost. A quick Google shows it at "under $200". Possibly $100. I'd buy it for $100. Now all you need really is a four port powered USB Hub, and one of those USB monitors along with a bluetooth mouse and keyboard. I'm more interested in something like this with Ubuntu than anything else. What you really need is a laptop shell with a USB monitor, keyboard, and four port hub internal with a battery pack power source to plug this into, then just remove it if you want to plug it in somewhere else.

edit: everything I'm reading says $200. Not cool. I mean I can buy a netbook with screen, keyboard, SD slot, HDMI, 2GB RAM, and hard drive for not much more than that. It's cool to have it on a thumb drive but you need a keyboard, mouse, and screen anyhow.
