I've looked around and I cannot seem to find an answer for this question

I am looking at 2 different Adapters.

    BOTH ARE:
DELL Laptop Adapter for a Studio 1737
    90W
    Input - 100-240V~50-60Hz, 1.5A
    Output - 19.5V - 4.62A
    PA-3E Family

The only difference is the MODEL
    one is HA90PE1-00
    other FA90PE1-00

So my question is what are the differences, if any, of these 2 different Model numbers; can I use them both for the same laptop without any damage/etc?

The only difference I see is that one is manufactured by Dell and the other is manufactured by some company known as "SIB". At least that's what it says on Amazon. As for using them to power a laptop, as long as they have the same voltage output rating, which they do, you should be able to use them on the same laptop.

I gave you the information of the 2 that I am looking at, they both have the DELL logo on it.

I figured that as long as the outputs matched that I could use it but Im not gonna buy it and then the plug is the wrong size or something, is what im worried about.

I'm just trying to find out what the difference between this 2 models are..... was it just a function upgrade or something so they had to release it with a different model number???

Dell does not manufacture these themselves. They outsource to other companies. See here. They are the exact same specification adapter made by two different companies. Just because it has the Dell logo on it does not mean Dell manufactured it. That link also has laptop models. Look at yours and if it supports both, you can purchase either one you like.

Yup, pretty sure my Precision PSU was manufactured by Delta. As long as it's a PSU branded by Dell, there's nothing to worry about, same if it's manufactured by the guys that actually make the PSUs that Dell rebrands. Just make sure the adapter's tip is the same.

Yay, another place that instead of outright answering my question, I just get a bunch of "I know more than you do, because I can google!" attitude.

And then I still get a vague answer that doesnt fully cover the question.....
Wish I could find a forum where people knew how to be polite.

But they were polite, and they did answer your question. Dell (and other OEMs) outsource their hardware requirements for AC connectors, displays, hard drives, etc. Hell, even the computer itself isn't made by the OEM, but instead made by companies like Clevo, Compal, Quanta (who also makes Apple computers), etc.

The only important numbers to consider in a laptop PSU is the wattage and the output voltage, which is the same for both. Tips are the same as well. But if you don't like the answers here, you can always call up Dell to double-check...

haha, both posters more than answered your question. clearly they offered more information than you're able to process. you now have three people telling you the exact same thing. it seems to me that you should really just take your computer to a store and let somebody figure it out for you.
