    Hi all,

When I start my laptop, there is a promt that:

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

Can anybody tell me what I have to do?

Is there some utility software to check all my hardware components?

    Thank you very much,

It seems that it refers to a problem with a driver or RAM, or many other things. Are there any other errors it gives, like a bunch of numbers, or anything like that?

Could be any number of problems.
An obvious starting point would be, have you overclocked anything?
Second, is any hardware running too hot?
And beyond that, it's *probably* a driver issue. Update all drivers.
Or it could be defective hardware.

use Memtest86+ for your memory, its a free CD image that you burn onto a CD and let your system boot up with it to start the test, which goes through all the parts of the memory. It goes throguh infinite passes until you want to to stop (Press Esc)

If it lists anything in the bottom, then you got a bad stick of memory, if not, then its something else, (more than likely) its software.

Are you getting this in a Windows blue screen? This looks like a RAM or Windows virtual memory problem. You have to go to your notebook manufacturer's website and look for some updates to your laptop model. Also, if your laptop is old I suggest NOT installing any Windows service packs, as these are known to mess up older under-spec'd laptops.

Is it even safe to be running two different speeds of RAM in a computer?
