    Hello guys,

please be easy, I am pretty brand new to this laptop kinds of thing, and have been readings severals people reccomending me for overclocking with my laptop V2405US compaq, now I'm wondering what does this overclocking really does to lappy, make my cpu runs faster that what it is? you mean like if I have a sempron 3000+ that suppose to run for 1.8GHz, and after I overclocking it It will be running faster than 1.8GHz?

please be kindly explain my stupid questions and please be easy with me about this since I really noob on this.. :base:

and is it possible for my laptop to have this upgrade? if so could any1 be kindly show me how to?

    thanks

Basically, you have the general idea. Overclocking is typically done on the GPU, I am not sure if that is what people suggested you overclock, or if it is in fact your CPU. Either way, if you don't know about it, don't do it. It will void warrantees, and can fry your GPU/CPU if you mess something up. It is not something that manufacturers would like you to do!!

Overclocking, is just pushing your GPU or CPU faster then the Manufacturer intended. For example if your CPU, (like you said) running at 1.8 Ghz, you could overclock it and make it run at 2.Ghz. And If your GPU was running at 400 mhz you could make it run at 450 mhz giving you better framerates when gamming. Only overclock your GPU if you know what your doing, and If your actually going to use the GPU for gamming or other 3D apps. Otherwise there is no point, and it might cut a couple of minutes off your battery life.

overclocking notebook processors seems to not really be worth the effort, it causes more heat and will shorten the life of the processor, and with a processor like yours the performance gain would be minimal and not worth the effort.

overclocking your graphics car (GPU) will allow you to gain a little performance in games and other 3d apps, basically what you are doing is raising the Core clock of the GPU and/or raising the clock speed of the memory of the card (which seems to be the most efficient way of gainging performance)

    hello guys,

thank you again for the replies, and the warnings about what might overclocking does to my laptop, but is there really any1 that using this sempron 3000+ and succeded in overclocked it? if so how much speed processor increamehnt he get from doing the overclocking to his sempron 3000+? and how actually to do this "overclocking" I have been searching for guides to do some overclocking but I got stuck in choosing clockgen software which will match to my chipset.. because the funny thing is, I dunno my own chipset from my laptop :( be easy on me guys.. I really am newbie in this..
so, Please please please if any1 can direct me to some websites or guides about this overclocking, similiar processor such as mine sempron 3000+ would be better, since If there is guide like that, I could just follow the guide.. :)

and my lappy specs is in my signature.. please.. any opinions would be fully appreciate... thanks
