OCZ , G.SKill , Corsair , Kingston. Aslong as it has lifetime warranty its good.

They will all perform the same so price is more of a decision

Thanks. G.Skill looks to be the cheapest too - I'll go with that.

if you want 2x2GB of ram, OCZ has a deal going on for 2 more days i think. $47 after rebate.

i dont know who offers the best deal for 2x1GB, but all the brands listed are fine.

all the brand is for the most part, is the person selling the ram they didnt make it.

the IC's are from a major ram manufacture and then they sell to a big company like G. Skill, Kingston ect and they throw a branded headspreader on there usually and ship them out. Some times they are tested for performance others are UTT (untested) to be sold cheaper.

Do your research on the IC's not the brand to find the best ram. From there just find the company with the best price/warranty.

usually micron has the better of the memory chips. The only memory which utilizes all micron chips is Crucial/Patriot since they have a direct partnership with micron technologies.

The samsung, hynix, elpida and qimonda chips are also good but they are just slightly behind micron in terms of performance.

micron is the parent company of crucial ;)

with laptop memory, it doesn't really matter what you get - you wont be doing any overclocking and all ram modules are rated for a specific speed already (just pick the one that matches your FSB)

with desktops, its a whole nother story. since with desktops, youre likely to overclock the processor alot, thus raising the FSB and memory speed alot, you'll want a stable set of RAM

I recommend you look into Mushkin RAM. I just installed 4 GB of Mushkin 667mhz DDR2 ram in my Sony CR120 laptop and it rocks.

I used to be a die hard Crucial fanatic, but recently they were hit with some quality control issues with certain ram chips. I was forced to find a new favorite. Mushkin consistently showed excellent ratings on new egg for most if not all of their products. They also make their own RAM chips, or at least they individually label them as such.

Gskill is another, more recent addition to the market and they have surprised many with their quality and performance. I used their RAM in my desktop and it's been going strong for 6 months.

Just shop around and read as many reviews as you can before making a decision. Pay particular attention to reviews that involve your particular laptop. Sometimes, certain brands can have compatibility issues with certain laptops.
