Ok, so they got rid of the "Portable" line on the website just recently, but what are the differences between the Portable line, Essential line, and Elite line?? Are there any discernable speed differences (same model HDs?) or just software?

edit: WD's site is terrible, at the bottom there seems to be a chart comparing Essential and Elite, but it's hard to read. I think the Essential lacks backup software, remote access software, soft touch finish, and capacity gauge... probably not worth the extra money eh? Anyone got benchies for the 3 to compare speeds or screenshots showing the actual HD used?

    Only software differences.

In my opinion, the Elite is only worth it if you would use the remote access.
