Hey guys, quick question, I was considering try an Intel version of OSX on my laptop, but apparently you need a SATA CD drive to install via the DVD, and IDE just won't work. I'm wondering does anyone know, are the Vostro 1700's CD drives SATA or IDE?

    Thanks :D

I don't know of any notebook ODD which uses SATA. Check the model number of your ODD in Device Manager then Google for the details. Alternatively, while you are in Device Manager, see if there's a device with a current transfer rate of UDMA 2 on one of the channels of the IDE ATA/ATAPI devices. If so, your burner is IDE.
