    It definitely exists.

The video shows a processor named the Turion II Ultra M640 and the Mobility Radeon 4200 integrated graphics. The processor showed a clock speed of 2.6 ghz.

I was just happy to see that the tigris platform actually exists.

Not benchmarks, but an Asus Tigris Laptop.

BTW The laptop in your video is the MSI CR610X. To compare, the Intel equivilent is the CR600.

I am pretty sure we will see the MSI Tigris laptops come to market, but I have my doubts about ASUS, who seems to have sold out to Intel.

I like the new battery life sticker, no more lies.

Sempron M100, Athlon II M300, Turion II M500 and the Turion II Ultra M600 series processors. ATI 4200 and up graphics.

Well, I didn't really mean to imply that it wouldn't come out or anything of that nature. It's just that things have been so quiet on that front since the rumors about it being widely shown at computex. This is the first I've seen of a machine actually running it. I wonder how much power it uses.

Take any article on Digitimes with a pinch of salt, they got it wrong when they said computex was the place tigris will be revealed.

I wouldn't even do that, and I live here.

The difference between the JDM and the US Market is the price.

You can't even get a Japanese brand laptop here for cheaper than in the US.

I guess if I really wanted it though, I'd pay the premium. It's just a shame how expensive laptops are here.

I find that to be a little odd tbh

Theres a big gap between the 4330 and 4870. So unless they count anything with a 4330 up to [whatever is right under 4870,4850?] as "Premium",I guess it would work.

They'll probably do that. That would include up to the 4670 which is still a long shot from the 4850 and higher.

It seems like a reasonable gap in which to place a divider.

Still, the OEMs are pairing these great GPUs with ridiculously low resolution LCD screens. (On top of the already stupid 16:9 aspect ratio, which already has its Protest thread...) Once again, I can't even vote with my wallet because the product I want isn't being offered, at any price.

even with a 4870 , the AMD cpus will be so weak that laptops with intel platforms will play games better than it... unless AMD doesn't come out with a mobile quad , i'm not buying their notebooks. I don't mind buying ATI graphics card laptop but they will be with intel cpus till AMD mobile quad comes out...

WOW!! At ease! That is the most fanboy comment ever!! lol no offense BTW.
ATI graphics era better than NVIDIA, and AMD is not that bad, just bad publicity, and bad rep, thanks to HP consumer laptops with terrible heat management, that were the only ones offering AMD solutions. HP laptops even with Intel get hot! So its not all of AMD's fault, true, they are outdated in the Mobile Market, but not to say "weak it wont let you game", considering that games rely more on the GPU than on the CPU.

Secondly, architecture is different, so clock-to-clock comparison is not fair (would be like counting raw number of shaders in NVIDIA-vs-ATI, pointless). True that Intel runs cooler, but not to the point of that "AMD is bad, and not to buy AMD".

I cant recall the name of the thread, but there was one here, not so long ago, treating the topic why AMD has such a small share on the market, and conclusion was (and it is well known) that Intel paid manufacturers so they use only Intel and leave AMD out, forcing them.

Intel is a larger company than AMD(if this fact is wrong, someone correct me now). Therefore, they have more money to put into Research & Development. In the other thread you mention Serg, it was also noted that AMD buying ATI cut back their budget substantially(more like exponentially) hence why they're having trouble catching up.

Up until Conroe, AMD's Athlon was technically kicking the Pentium's butt so I wouldn't generalize the statement to say that AMD CPUs are bad. Currently they're behind, I think nobody doubts that though.

And of course, only a handful of games are CPU hungry. You know that there are still games that come out currently with Pentium 4 minimum requirements right(ex: The Sims 3)??

Yes, forgot to mention that AMD bought ATI and has carried that heavy load since then.

Well, if you want to count AMD+ATI as one, then you could be talking of slightly smaller? Just a rough guess, no idea really...:S

Hey, dont criticize, I have an AMD Sempron 3600+ Single Core and I can run The Sims 3 reasonably well...lol

That video was recorded some two months ago or more, and later amd officially announced new platform and why tigris laptops aren't still available?

Are there any informations about notebooks on tigris beside a little unofficial infos about asus, acer, toshiba and msi notebooks?

Chances are Intel's still doing pressure on companies not to release higher end AMD notebooks. Either that or the companies themselves don't really want to. Currently, not many companies actively use AMD based notebooks so the shift may not be easy for them or consumers(who aren't used to buying AMD).

Probably the retailers wants to see all Vista laptops off the shelves without giving huge discounts or upgrades to W7 before new models are introduced to the market.

Best Buy had mentioned they want to avoid "Black Friday"-like sales.

Places like Sears and Radio Shack probably have lots of Vista laptops too.

But I wish some were announced. I have only seen these models ( http://www.gadgetfolder.com/acer-aspire-7540-and-5542-notebooks-gets-priced-and-release-date.html) and Ferrari One.

As amazing as these notebooks are looking to be, they all seem to have one fatal flaw... a 16:9 display.

Though maybe a few manufacturers out there will actually throw up a good 16:10 notebook or two.

Office Depot has a bunch of Turion II laptops going on sale Sunday. Specifically the Toshiba L505D-55992, L555D-37930 and HP DV4-2040US and DV73060US. Specs look good. Prices are between $530-700. Their website has a preview of Sundays flier.
