I'm getting Sager 8170 delivered soon and I decided what the hell, lets get an ssd :) I keep reading this forum and try to leaarn on my own but ssd seem a bit complicated :p
Anyway I'm a gamer, thata's all I do, on ssd there will only be win7 and games and programs, I have 7.2k 500gb secondary drive for all my files. I do not care how fast my laptop turns on :)

How would these two compare for my needs ? I have occasion to buy Vertex 2 120gb for $149, which is a pretty good price.
However I noticed something about Sata III and them working faster, so if I would have to buy a drive for sata3 capabilities it mightaswell be Intel.

I recommend the Intel 510, mainly because you take advantage of the increased SATA III speeds without worrying about the past history of the Vertex 2.

I heard that Vertex 2 has some questionable reliability to it, but it's also twice the price for 510.
What benefits other than reliability 510 brings to the table ?

intel or crucial for reliability. crucial is great also. i ordered a 320. went with someting tried and true and 4k read and writes are better than 510. but that's me, and i haven't received it yet so no personals from me yet.

I got the Vertex 2 80gb (25nm) If you do go for the vertex 2 stay away from the 25nm drives. Very slow compared to the other vertex 2 drives. I got it because it was only 140$ after mail in rebate and i needed a hd right away as my other died. Even tho it maybe be slower then other ssds its still 10 times faster then my old hd and boot time is about 17 seconds so i am happy
