So, I have a Sony Vaio CS215J, and the screen has been acting really funny for a while. Basically, the screen either locks up or glitches hard (white lines, broken images, screen goes white, etc) unless I bend the screen or push on a certain part of the screen. I checked all the connections and the mounting, the only thing I can think of is that maybe it's a defective screen.

Has anyone ever seen this problem, and is it fixable? If not, where do I get a replacement panel (besides ebay, all the sellers there seem kind of shady). It's way past warranty, so I can't get it from there.

    Thanks!

Here's a video of the problem-

I think your best bet is to contact Sony. Good luck getting it fixed.

Just for the sake of it, do you get any of these 'glitches' when an external monitor is connected?

Just trying to nail it down.....

Yeah, it works. I'm pretty sure it's the screen itself (see the video).

Also, I don't want to have to go through Sony, since they'll probably charge much more than fixing it myself.

or the ribbon cable that runs though the hinges......

    $100+ for a screen or $10- for a cable.

Hard to tell what the real problem in through.

I bet it's the ribbon display cable.

I'll have to check the ribbon cable the next time I disassemble it, but in the meantime, what I'm actually doing in the video is bending (by a good amount) the LCD panel. It could possibly be the ribbon cable since I'm flexing the entire screen. What I'm doing in the video is using my thumb to push hard on the bezel, bending the entire fixture (probably to a good 20° arc).
