How difficult do you think it'll be to upgrade a Yonah (Core Duo) processor to a Merom (Core 2 Duo) processor? The Laptop I'm planning on getting is the LG S1, but I don't know if it's worth it to wait for LG to upgrade the model, or if I should just get it when they go on sale/get reduced in price.

To upgrade physically won't really be hard for most laptops, the question is though will your laptop support it.

The first version of the Merom will be pin compatible with current Core Duo CPUs but most laptops will probably need a new BIOS update to support the microcode of the new CPUs. But it has been shown that a few laptops do work with Merom without a BIOS update (Engineering Sample CPU).
