Hi, guys :) I need some help upgrading my current laptop processor. And yes, I know it is possible. I went thru the papers on my laptop which said an updating to Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1GHz is possible and supported by the motherboard. The current processor is an Intel Pentium Dual Core T2330.

I need help on where to go to get this done, or if possible does anyone have a video showing this? Any advice appreciated.

Here's a picture showing what motherboard etc it is, oh I'm not allowed to post the site :(
    Motherboard: Manufacturer Fujitsu Siemens
    Model 45
    Chipset: Intel PM965 Rev.C0
    Southbridge: 82801HBM (ICH8-ME)
    LPCIO: NS

Sorry if the information is confusing, I'm kinda noob :p
Laptop is Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Pi2540
    It is socketed.
And how difficult is to replace the processor yourself? And Hirohata it says nothing about the T8100 there and how I can upgrade my processor. I just want someone to tell me how to upgrade the processor! A simply how to.

Thank you very much K-Tron easy and well explained, I think I'll try doing it myself, doesn't seem too difficult.

Have you disassembled your laptop to the point where you can see the CPU and the type of socket it resides in? Some are soldered and some are socketed. You will only be able to upgrade it if yours is socketed.

You can upgrade the cpu, and it should be fairly straightforward.
If you have skills with using screwdrives, than I recommend you upgrading the machine yourself. If you go to a store, like best buy or whatever they will tell you the upgrade wont work, or they will charge you an arm and a leg to install it for you.

Upgrading the cpu involves a few steps.
    1) upgrade the Bios to the latest revision offered by Fujitsu Siemens,
    2) shut the system off, and unplug the main battery and ac adaptor.
    3) discharge yourself/ground yourself, so you do not conduct electricity. (They sell grounded wrist bands)
    4) flip your laptop over and unscrew the screws holding the two halves of your laptop together
    5) take pictures along the way, so you know how everything went together,
    6) when you finally get to the insides, gently remove the heatsink,
    7) use a flat head screwdriver to unlock the cpu, (requires a half turn of a flat head screw)
    8) use rubbing alcohol to clean off the paste from the old cpu and the heatsink
    9) gently remove the cpu
    10) install the new cpu
    11) apply a thin coat of thermal paste (arctic silver5 or competitive thermal compound)
    12) gently screw the heatsink on,
    13) put the rest of the system back together, and make sure their are no screws left over before starting up.
    14) plug battery and ac power back in and finally
    15) press the power button and enjoy
