    Hello,

I have a compal cl51 notebook with an internal 2100b intel wireless adapter. I was wondering if I could upgrade to an intel 2915 abg considering it's a tri-band card (ie. will there be any issues regarding the antenna frequency?).

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks

You won't have any issues as far as I'm concerned if you want to upgrade to that card. Go for it. ;)

Yeah, i think there won't would be any problems. The Radio Frequencys would just be 2.4 or 5.0GHz. The only that needs to be matching if you want A is a A router. :)

Not to say you shouldn't do it, but if all you are doing is surfing they net, the benefit of upgrading is marginal. The chance you'll ever encounter an A network of a/b/g is small. Plus you have to factor in the cost of the card.

And you need to make sure it's not soldered to the motherboard. Some do this, some don't. I'd think Compal would leave it as a mini-PCI that can be removed, but double check.

Thanks for all your help and prompt replies... I'm going ahead with the upgrade ($32 through Amazon) and I'll post my results at a later date.

And if it doesn't work... are any you guys in the market for a new Intel 2915abg WiFi card ... lol
