I'd like to add another 1GB (DDR2-667) DIMM in a D630, but I don't know anything about memory. What brand is the D630 memory? What brand should I get?

    Thanks.

Any DDR2 667 MHz SODIMMs should do the trick.

Look in the Hot ram deals for great prices on memory and brand is not that important just make sure it has a lifetime warranty.

Also how much memory do you have in your notebook now?

Right now? 1 DIMM of 1GB.
I thought there might be some compatibility problems with using 2 different brands/DIMMS.

    Yes very good memory.

Darn, I paid $100 USD like a year ago for that same one. Now it's like $40 Canadians.

Related, does anyone know if the D630 can take advantage of DDR2 800? The D630 is Santa Rosa which I think should support 800MHz ram, but the Dell site only offers 667MHz so I'm just wondering.

No, it does not support 800 ram. It will take it, but automatically downclock it to 667, so theres really no point.

I think he means that right now Santa Rosa doesn't support DDR2-800, but if you get DDR2-800, it will automatically down clock to DDR2-667. Get DDR-667, and save some money.

    Thanks guys.

For others in this situation I found this on Intel's site:

    http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/PM965/index.htm
So apparently, as Allan_Huang said, it's Santa Rosa itself, that, though having a 800MHz FSB, does NOT support DDR2-800.
