    Hello,

I am running a Compal KHLB2 laptop with a 15.6" widescreen display using a CHUNGWA CLAA156WA11A screen with a maximum resolution of 1366x768. The screen has been cracked and I am in the process of replacing it but would like to replace it with a screen capable of higher resolutions. I have found a couple of screens capable of 1600x1200 but am unsure as to whether they will be compatible.

    System Specs
    Compal KHLB2
    15.6" CHUNGWA CLAA156WA11
    Core Duo Mobile T9600
    ATI Radeon Mobility HD4650 512MB
    2GB DDR3 SODIMM

The 2 Screens I am looking at

    Screen 1

    Screen 2

I just want to be certain that there won't be any issues with compatability. any information that can be provided is greatly appreciated.

I'm considering doing a screen upgrade myself but read something from screencountry.com that said upgrading a laptop screen's resolution is not recommended. In my case I'm unsatisfied with how movies look on a studio 15 800 by 1200, would like to go to 1400 by 900 but not sure how much a difference it would actually make in terms of improvement.

lol they are joking right... you can upgrade the res as long as your gpu will handle it. just make sure to use a compatible screen. if you dont care about brand most better ebay sellers will ship you the compatible screen to what you have. the best way if you are unsure is ask in the respective forums or the brand's resellers what panel people have with your model laptop with the higher res that came with it and simply order that. i can recc smartmicrousa they are also on ebay and are pretty good with returns if need be and have a 0 dead pixel policy

to the op either of those should work fine they all use a standard plug BUT what you need to make sure of is what type of backlighting they have you CAN NOT use a led panel if yours came with a ccfl and visa versa

I second you, zfactor. I upgraded from a 15.6" 1366x768 to a 15.4" 1680x1050. CCFL or LED is the most crucial part actually.

Possibly defective, Id call your vendor or check if it was installed properly.

Yeah double check your connections, and then make sure your screen resolution is set to the LCD's native (1600x900). Then call the vendor and see what's wrong if that fails.

I double checked all of the connections and finally contacted the vendor who is claiming that it is not possible to upgrade the Resolution and that my laptop only supports 1366x768.
