I just bought a 5400rpm hdd for my x60s. Rather than installing and having to go through all the driver installation and updates, I would like to backup my old hdd on a dvd and recover on the new one. I read somewhere here about a software that does this but I can't find it. Can someone link me and advise me if there is anything else I need to know.

Norton Ghost is one...can't think of any off the top of my head...but there are other good ones.
