    Anyone know if it is possible to swap the GPU out on that Laptop? I believe that it is soldered on there, but I wasn't sure.

    Just curious, because if it was possible I would consider putting a better geforce in there if I could (like an 8600 or better)

    Nope...either you have the soldered X3100, or the soldered 8400M. End of story.

    Besides, you'll have heating issues if you put a powerful card in. Basically, the thermal design of your 1420 isnt designed to handle something like the 8600 or higher.
