I'd like the new penryn on my next purchase, but Dell doesn't yet offer it on the inspiron 1525, so I'm thinking of upgrading to the t8300 as soon as I get it.

There's no question that it should work if I were upgrading from say, a t7250, with a FSB of 800. But, since I'm planning on ripping out the processor as soon as I get it, I'm thinking of buying the cheapest offering, a celeron 540, which has a FSB of 533. Now, on Intel's page, it notes that the 965GM has a 533 and 800MHz speed.

I confirmed with dell support that the 1525 configured with celeron has a 965GM chipset, but they were not too helpful in confirming with me that the FSB on that offering is limited by the chipset rather than the processor itself.

Anyway, I guess the question is, if I buy a celeron 540 configured 1525, will the FSB of the motherboard be 533 or 800?

A GM965 (letters go in front of the #'s with this chipset family) will adjust FSB based on CPU, so you will be fine.

no, you cannot put a T7200 in your system.
    If your system has a spcket P processor, (aka a 7250, T7100, T7300, T7500, T7700, T7800, T8100, T8300, and so forth) you cannot put a socket M T7200 in there.
    They are different sockets.

If you have a T7200 and want to sell it to afford a new cpu, PM Me I am interested in the processor.

Thanks for the help. I dont have this processor, I'm interested to buy a Inspiron 1525 with a Celeron processor and put it, because a friend is selling it with a good price.
Here in Brazil the price of Inspiron with a C2D is very high.

    Regards.
