It has just been confirm that this Synaptic Driver unlocks MultiTouch Gestures on Laptops (with Synaptic Touchpad) that originally doesn't support Multi Touch.
I think this is the Driver we all should be using.
    Direct Link:
    Windows Xp
    Windows Vista / 7
    What this driver unlocks:
    1. 2 Finger Vertical/Horizontal Scrolling (For Windows Up/Down Scrolling)
    2. 3 Finger Press (Application Gestures)(ShortCut Command for launching Applications)
    3. 3 Finger Flick (Application Gestures)(Back/Forward Shortcuts in internet browsers)
This is what you should see appearing after installing this crazy driver

One can just download a configuration file off the internet and enable those feature on any synaptics version of synaptics driver.

This doesn't work for my TouchPad I have tried this before.
As for Modded Synaptic Drivers, I have have tried they only could unlock Chiral Scroll.
    Moreover this is WHQL.
The surprising part is the driver unlock multi touch on Older Touchpad that doesn't support Multi-Touch...without any hacks.

Hmm. This has worked on several computers in my family that I've worked on recently. One is an Acer 3680, One is a Dell Inspiron, and another is an Older Sony Vaio. All came OEM with Synaptics touch-pads, but didn't come with Multitouch. After I installed the driver that enabled multitouch in the Synaptics control panel, I used the "Two Finger Scroll", and that made it more like the Macbook's implementation, with the two-finger swipe to the left was "Back" and to the right was "Foward", and two finger tap was a "right-click".

My laptop's Touchpad 2 Finger Scroll still doesn't work in Linux but with this driver it actually works in Windows so I don't know how HP did the driver that unlock the function Linux Synaptics Driver can't unlock.

For some reason, for me the 5.10 driver keeps on installing instead of the 6.5 one, but I've got Chiral scroll at least.

Try installing 13.x newest driver (version 7.2+)off laptopvideo2go and use the mod inf that i posted. You'll be able to unlock feature such as pinch zoom, rotating, and all other features in the first screenshot.

The drivers are obselete won't install on Win7 64.
Seriously you shouldn't be recommending them.

There's a 64bit version of the 13.x driver if you're using 64bit OS. However, the .inf file is made for 32bit OS, thus some slight modification is needed to the .inf file for it to work on win7.

The drivers themselves aren't obsolete since there's only one or two few insignificant changes in the newer version.

At least with this new driver I don't seem to been getting any crashes, as it used to happen all the time. Unfortunately, my new laptop's touchpad just doesn't seem to have multiple finger support.

It is not late, it is just this driver unlocked multi-touch for my non-multitouchpad like some freak accident.
I knew of multi-touch but it wasn't available for my old touchpad until this driver came along.
Guys with newer laptops with multi-touch can just ignore this post.

    It makes web browsing easier.
There are videos to guide you along.
A lot of guys are having a misunderstanding about this driver.
The whole point of this is it unlocks the multitouch function for laptops that previously don't have multi-touch.
Which part of this statement is difficult to understand?
Even with modded drivers previous synaptic drivers are unable to unlock multi-touch function (At most Chiral scroll but not multi fingers).
Even Linux Synaptic Driver doesn't unlock multitouch for my touchpad until this driver came along.
Only those guys with older laptop touchpad can understand what I mean.
Your yield may vary according to which version of touchpad you own.
If you have new laptops with spanking new Synaptics Touchpad version that already support multitouch move along nothing to see here.

Do these drivers add chiral scroll abilities also or just two/three fingers multitouch?

When you have 2 finger scroll no need for chiral scroll anymore.
Although this driver does unlock chiral scroll as well on my V6.5 touchpad.

Oh that worked fine at the time for me, but my 8510p's touch pad was just too small for it to be any good. :p Plus, trackpoint ftw.

Well crap, three finger flick for forward and back works great for everything, BUT Google Chrome.

This is the one thing I really want and it only works with IE or Firefox.
