Is anybody aware of a device (something portable) that will read thumb drives and then be able to play mp3 files by either outputting RCA connections or thru a portable mp3 player? I would assume that this gizmo would have some kind of screen so that you can see what files you are scrolling through. Some of the newer low end micro stereos have USB inputs but I am not interested in buying something like this. I would prefer something with RCA outs so that I can connect to my home stereo.

Not the best way to go about it but the 60$ digital picture frame I got my mother for x-mas does this. Takes USB flash drive, sd, md, ect and can play mp3's, do a slide show, and has rca outputs and a built in speaker.

Your best bet is to get a digital music player that takes another more standard form of storage like a SD or MD card and then just get a usb adapter so that you can use it as a usb flash drive, but then take the card out and put it in the player.

...or just use a small MP3 player AS a thumb drive.
