    Using a Plugable USB 3 docking station. Monoprice sells 6-foot cables to connect the dock to the laptop, but Plugable says USB 3 is not reliable in cable lengths over 3 feet. Does that sound right to you? Most of the info I've seen indicates a max USB 3 cable length of about 3 meters.
