I am having a problem with my Transcend 8GB flash drive. I've been using it to transfer files from my office to my home computer. A few days ago I plugged it in my office's computer as I do every day and suddenly the Windows gave me a message stating the words Critical Error and a string of letters and numbers I could not comprehend.

As of that moment, my computer or any other I've tested my flash drive on does not recognize it. There is no Windows sound when I plug the stick in, there is no drive in My Computer or Device Manager and there is no any effect on the computer I can link to my USB stick I just plugged in. I scanned the entire computer and there are no viruses of malwares of any kind. I cannot scan my USB because I cannot locate it anywhere on the system.

The only thing that gives me hope is that the blue light on the USB stick keeps normally being on, as usual. Do you have any advice I can follow on this issue?

    Thanks.

You probably never used the "Safe remove" feature thus corrupting the partition/drive.

The only thing you could try now if it has no valueable data is to clean its partition table using diskpart

1- Open Command prompt in an elevated mode (Run as Admin), type: diskpart then hit Enter

2- Type list disk then hit Enter

3- You will see all your connected drives, take note of the Disk ### next to the USB Flash Disk, you would know which one it is by looking at its size on the right

4- Type select disk X (where X stands for the number of your USB Flash Disk) then hit Enter to make that disk the working disk which diskpart is going to perform its actions on

5- Type clean then hit Enter

6- Now go to Disk Management in Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management

7- The moment you click on Disk Management in the left pane, it should open up a small window asking you whether you want to initialize the disk as MBR or GPT. Choose MBR

8- Now right click on the drive and choose New Simple Volume, then when given the choice to do a quick format, uncheck that so it would perform a complete format on the Flash Disk to hide any bad sectors it may find
