hi, i'm looking for an upgrade of my HDD and really cannot decide (and don't want to wait for the 7200.4 anymore :(
which of these two would you choose (and why)?
toshiba looks pretty good with power consumption (but I'm usually on AC), and it's only a little slower in some tests (I'm looking at Tom's hardware charts), both are 250gb per platter so it's really hard decision

P.S. or would you wait for the 7200.4 (or maybe some new WD or Hitachi 7200rpm with 250gb per platter)? I don't need it the disk that urgently ...

So far, I've been very happy with my 5K500.B which gives good performance while being power efficiency. Toshiba appear to have given even more emphasis to the power efficiency at the the expense of performance.

Tom's Hardware don't have a noise benchmark. The 5K500.B makes a slight ticking noise which is barely audible. Some of the older Toshiba HDDs sounded like pecking chickens but the new ones may be quiet.

I'd probably go with the WD5000BEVT. It's slightly faster than 5K500.b but uses a little bit more power.

Seagate 7200.4 has high throughput but slow I/O. I'm expecting the WD5000BEVT to be faster in real life.
