Hi all, I have Toshiba A135-S2386 (still in its orig condition). After a while, i want to add a memory coz the system goes hard to load in time. So, i buy a V-GEN DDR2 2Gb PC-5300 (16 ICs). As i read online, this toshiba have only 2gb max so i put out the 512mb ram (SAMSUNG 512mb 2Rx16 PC2 4200S / 8 ICs) then put on the 2gb. But, it wont turn on, it comes with a 'clack' sound (just a second) and a clock led lights on green (the process led lights on just a second then off). I put back the 512mb (i unplug the 2gb), the system runs normal then i put them both, the system runs normal too, wherever i put them on, up or down. BIOS only read 1918mb, so does its Vista Home Basic, i guess it is caused by its limitation.
Can anyone help me with this ? Thanks alot.

Vista has nothing to do with this. Chipset itself is limited to 2048MB of RAM. And BIOS shows 1918MB because part of 2GB is allocated for on-board graphics.
Can't say why system ain't working with just 2GB module installed.
