    Hi All,

    I may have to opt to buy a glossy lcd laptop, because of its great other features and price. Therefore if I am to do this then I need an effective way to deal with the glare should it become a problem. The laptop will be for business use. I cannot get a business matte laptop with the level of spec required.

    So what recommendations and thoughts do you have for using antiglare films, clip on filters etc to reduce glare. The "privacy filters" are not suitable since I will be demonstrating to clients.

    Thanks,

    Sam

    Just found this which may be of interest to folks..... Folix FX seems to offer a good solution as an antiglare film and can be removed.

    Anybody used this?

    In my experience these films are nowhere near proper anti-glare polariser treatment. They reduce sharpness & contrast a lot more.

    I didn't use them personally, just seen several laptops equipped with them over span of time - so not sure which brands these were really.

    Ask the guys in the M11x forums. They found a few options that they were satisfied with. The glare on the M11x is atrocious. Many people opted for them and have used them for a while. Maybe ask there. I can't remember the names of the vendors exactly.

    @htwingnut,

    Thanks, will do.

    I see that you have a Sage NP8662 which is a Clevo I believe. The Clevo is the option that I am worried about being glossy. What do you like the CLevo and dislike about it? How do you find the screen's glossiness?

    Thanks,

    Sam

    Screen is matte, well, kinda matte, but it's not super reflective like the M11x I owned for a couple weeks before I returned it. I love the Sager except that it doesn't include bluetooth, has only a single hdd bay (had to replace my DVD with a caddy to accept second HDD), and the keyboard kinda sucks. The battery life is better than I'd expect. I can get just shy of two hours on a charge, but then again the system automatically reduces CPU and GPU speeds. The 1680x1050 screen is awesome and overall build quality beats any regular laptop build, although not as top notch as the Envy 14 I tried out. The cooilng is great though. I haven't really overclocked it, as I haven't had a need to, but temps are reasonable compared with other systems with similar components.

    Granted this is the Core 2 based system. The newer i7 based system (NP8690) only gets about an hour battery that I've seen, but it has a chiclet keyboard which I love, and the HD5870 or GTX 460m

    @htwingnut,

    thanks for the reply. This new i7 clevo was the one I was referring to. I believe it has a glossy screen.

    It is interesting that you find the HP envy good. I have just picked up on this model as good although glossy again.

    My search continues.....

    BTW, the antiglare recommendation was NUSHIELD although not as good as a true matte screen.

    Thanks again
