Does anyone out there know anything about upgrading a Thinkpad Z60m? I love this lap but I want more performance out of it. I play a decent amount of games and also have a organization that works with bands, so I need good music and art capabilities. Any help, suggestions, links, etc... will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

BTW, I am a bit of a modder, so performance is important. :D

More RAM would be my first step ... how much do you currently have? What OS are you running?

Sorry about that...I guess the vitals would be important huh?

1.86 GHz Pentium M, 512 MB RAM, ATI Radeon X300 video card (not sure if this is integrated into the mobo or not?)

Since you have a pentium M, you can pin mod your processor to like 2.4Ghz.
Here is a few links you can read up about it on:

If you do not feel safe doing this, then yes upgrading your memory should help speed things up. I believe the X300 is an onboard chip, and anyways you cannot upgrade graphics cards in IBm/lenovo laptops.

Oh yeah, also curious as to getting into the BIOS settings on this Z60m. I can get to the BIOS by way of the blue ThinkVantage button, but this has limited options, and nothing for the FSB or any voltage control. I have a Evercool Zodiac cooling pad with 2 70mm fans in it, so i'm to wooried about heat.

When the computer is booting up, simply press the delete key or the F1 or the F2 key to enter into the Bios. Usually, the computer will tell you which button you have to push to enter the bios, when the bios is loading up.

Laptop bioses do not allow for manual fsb changes. The only way to overclock a pentium M is to stick a wire in the socket to short a BSEL, making the bus of the processor change.

K-TRON, thank you for those links, I have been looking for something like that for awhile now. Didn't know that was possible with the M. :D

Though it's technically not an upgrade, you could try overclocking your X300 (which isn't integrated) to increase framerates in games.

As others have said, consider adding more memory to your Z60.
