I'm thinking of buying another Thinkpad T60p screen with bezel and all that and somehow modding it to be a slide-out 2nd monitor on the back of the base screen. I would mod all of this myself, but I'm not quite sure where to start. Before telling me I'm crazy or it can't be done, has anyone modded this laptop or know where I should start on it?

I don't think other mods of this laptop are going to help you at all, there isn't much of anywhere we can tell you to hep you get started.
There's something called Emachineshop that can help you if you need any physical mechanical parts.

I've modded hundreds of T6x units and have absolutely no idea what you're trying to accomplish...

Seems to me like your first step necessarily has to be determining how you're going to power and connect this secondary screen. It might be possible, but I'd say it's distinctly unlikely.
