Hey everyone. In an effort to fix my overheating Acer laptop I am looking for two products, but need help finding them.

The first is a thermal pad or putty that goes between a component and the heatsink. The original ones are crushed, so I need a replacement to fill the gap. Where can I buy this (in a sheet I guess) for a reasonable price. The gap is too large and surface uneven to accommodate thermal paste and a foil shim.

Also I am looking for a large (120mm?), high CFM fan that can be powered via USB, so 5V and 500mA is my source. Right now I have two 80mm fans powered via an external power source.

    Thanks

I would get a copper shim and do the paste<>shim<>paste combo.

Ebay is one place to get thermal pads, but there are different types, some are not meant for a GPU/CPU, they are only for components that dont get too hot (ram).

Good thermal pads are hard to find.

You can buy them in maplin pretty cheaply, however they're never as good as paste.

Yeah, I know they aren't as good as paste. The CPU has a paste/shim/paste interface, but GPU and some other components have putty. I have a very odd case where the heat tube failed in my laptop, so due to lack of service from Acer and the part being unavailable, I have resorted to a fan taped onto my laptop so it doesn't melt.

Anyway, I tried searching on eBay for the pads...but not sure what to search for.
